What we need to do
Engage people. Ask them to express their relationship with the monument through Show & Tell, and then a Promise.
Why? Because in the end, love wins.
It is the collective energy through art, stewardship and advocacy that we can give back to the land that is Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument and Bears Ears National Monument. It is how we honor and respect those who lived and walked on the land before us. This is how we show our support of the stewardship program in organizations that are on the ground doing the work, and in DC advocating for the land — that we believe in them.
Draw. Paint. Promise.
The dates
Postcards collected: September 8 to November 10, 2026.
Three ways to take part
Make the card, then choose one of three.
1. Onsite
Put the finished postcard back in the pencil pouch at the station, for pick up. Cards are collected from the Boulder Mountain Lodge Lobby & Community Room, Anasazi State Park & Museum (460 UT-12, Boulder, UT 84716), the Grand Staircase Escalante Partners office (530 W Main St, Escalante, UT 84726), and onsite events and venues.
2. Online
Photograph the front and the back and submit it at the submission form. Anyone, anywhere in the world, can take part this way.
postcard.monumentallove.net — pending.
3. At home
Add a stamp and mail it, to arrive by November 10, 2026:
Monumental Love / DM
PO Box 1483
Boulder, Utah 84716
Sharing your work
On the back of each card, tick the line that reads: “I consent to Monumental Love sharing and publishing my art and words.”
It is already printed on the instruction label, alongside the fields for first name and last initial, state and zip code. Only cards carrying that consent are published, and every postcard is reviewed before being shared. Never a full surname, never a street address — town or city, state and ZIP code help the efforts of those in DC.
Host a station
Who can host
Any nonprofit, conservation, education or creative organization. Hosting does not make you a partner of, or endorsed by, Grand Staircase Escalante Partners or StoryScope Studio.
What a host is never asked to do
Collect money, count cards, or speak for the campaign. We bring the stand, the postcards and the pens, and we restock.
Where it goes
All it needs is a little counter space: beside a register or a water dispenser, or on a coffee table. Somewhere it will be seen.
The postcard kit includes
- Postcard holder and standing sign.
- A 4×6 instruction card in the front of each holder, with about 50 postcards behind it, bound by a rubber band so they do not slither all over.
- An 8.5×11 vertical standing holder for the FAQ.
- A pencil pouch with crayons, a pen and a pencil for drawing and writing.
- Completed postcards go back in this pouch for pick up.
Bookmarks are optional. Print on cardstock, double sided, four to a sheet, cut apart as needed.
Kits are $25 each. Purchased via Venmo (808) 631-8677, and mailed or delivered once your hosting agreement is approved — available as soon as they go out.
Making your own postcards
Cut cardstock, cardboard or heavy paper into rectangles. To mail at the postcard rate a card must be 3.5×5 to 4.25×6 inches, and 0.007 to 0.016 inches thick — about index card to heavy cardstock. Anything larger or thicker needs letter postage or more; those can be dropped at a station or submitted online instead.
Front: the art. Back: the Tell, the Promise, first name and last initial, state and zip code, and the consent line: “I consent to Monumental Love sharing and publishing my art and words.”
Print these
Everything lives in one shared folder, the Monumental Love Toolkit. Start with Share it — it takes a minute and needs no printer. Print the files as provided: please do not edit, recolor, or add logos to them. Your own signage nearby is fine.
